Pinot Meunier is a member of the Pinot noir family (which includes Pinot blanc and Pinot gris). The red grape experiences late budbreak, ripens fairly quickly, and is relatively cold hardy. The grape is rarely used in a single varietal wine, but is a common ingredient in the sparkling wines of the Champagne region of France.
