Two Josephs Vineyard

Touriga Nacional

power and finesse

Touriga

This high quality Portuguese grape is one of several that are traditionally used to make Port wine. The vine has a vigorous growth habit, but paradoxically yields small amounts of tiny small blue-black berries. The resulting wine is dark purple with lots of tannin and power, but which also has finesse. The wines taste of black fruit and violets. Touriga Nacional is increasingly used in Portugal as an ingredient in high value table wines. The vine loves the heat; we'll have to see how in handles the cold.
